Sailboat Anniversary Session at Sunset | Kent Island, MD
We met in the marina as the afternoon sun began to deepen into a warm golden hue. Taylor walks up with her Minolta film camera and an exuberant smile, while Michael followed close behind with a bottle of Prosecco. The two were staying just on the other side of the Chesapeake at a bayside airbnb. I welcomed them onto the boat, and they made themselves comfortable. Before long, the lines were aboard and we were out of the slip. As soon as I turned the speaker on, T & M were grabbing at it to put their own playlist on. These two are one the most intentional pairs I’ve met, so I wasn’t surprised that they were ready to set the vibe with their own playlist.
POP! The cork ricocheted on the boat’s deck. They danced in their seats as the Prosecco filled their glasses and the sun danced across the water. We spent the night dancing, drinking, taking film portraits, and even getting in a sailing lesson.
There’s just something about the way the sun sets over the water that feels completely different than when you’re on land. The colors dance on the waves, and the water illuminates the sky, saturating the hues for a brilliantly vibrant display.
When you’re on the boat, it feels like the sun sets just for you
We slipped back into the marina as twilight set in and the stars began to twinkle into view. T & M thanked us and said their goodbyes, before hurrying back to their cozy bayside rental. It was an immaculate evening on the Chesapeake. Thank you, Taylor & Michael, for your trust and sincerity (and good tunes). Happy Anniversary!
