Fall Boudoir Event ft. The Freckled Flower | Bethlehem, PA
Ashley, owner and designer of The Freckled Flower, and I first worked together when I captured her mountain top vow renewal in the Appalachian Mountains. I fell in love with not only her designs, but also her values. She only uses local and seasonal organic materials for her unique and whimsical designs. After three years in the floral industry, I know how ironically difficult it is to design sustainably and make it look good! And somehow, Ashley was able to do both. I knew I had to collaborate with her in some way..
After much deliberation, we decided to create on a set for an intimate portrait event at Fox & Finch Studio in Fountain Hill. Our intention for the set was to honor the enticing pull and strange comfort of the season, by incorporating dried florals, wandering branches, mosses, and mushrooms. All of the natural materials included in our set were foraged, grown locally, and sustainably designed. I wanted to create a boudoir experience that would speak to something seldom whispered.. the strange and peculiar allure of autumn. Autumn, the season of harvest, of little death and quiet rebirth, of trust and expansion, of reflection and embrace. It’s something I think we’ve all felt, but what is it really? And how can we express it? How do we hold onto it long enough to know it? To really feel it? That’s what we set out to explore and capture through this unique boudoir experience.
Clients were given 20 minutes in front of the lens and a gallery of 15 portraits. Every client had access to my boudoir preparation guide and my inbox leading up to the event. We collaborated on wardrobe and hair and makeup options. Clients had an opportunity to communicate their posing & privacy preferences before, during, and after their session. The portraits included on this page have all been approved for sharing by the individuals.
